Orlando Pirates once loaned him out to Baroka but now he’s hit a milestone in Europe

Marshall Munetsi, a former midfielder for Orlando Pirates, has reached the century mark in games played for Stade de Reims. The player is having another outstanding season in Ligue 1. Munetsi, who is now 26 years old, moved to South Africa with FC Cape Town in 2016 after responding to a Facebook post on the club's page asking for players to try out for the team. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

The towering central midfielder made an excellent impression during his evaluation, and a few months later, he was sent on trial at Pirates. There, he completely outplayed Augusto Palacios in a friendly match against their reserve team, and he was subsequently acquired by Pirates in a deal that was worth approximately R5 million. However, he was never really able to establish himself in the favored midfield position at the club due to the fact that he was loaned out to Baroka twice and then returned to play as a right-center back for the Buccaneers before ultimately departing for France after Reims paid the transfer cost.

Since his arrival in the French top division as a prominent player in the Reims midfield, which has garnered interest from the English Premier League in recent months, he has not stopped improving his game, and he has not looked back. The Zimbabwean international is maturing into a potent box-to-box midfielder, and he has contributed to their current ninth spot in the league standings with five goals scored and three assists collected in 24 games played so far this season.

After moving to the United States from South Africa, Munetsi has contributed to the club's offense by scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists.
