Cory McKenna is ready to bounce back from UFC London disappointment at UFC Vegas 59 and is feeling better than ever having shaken off the injuries that have hampered her road to stardom.

The 23-year-old, who became the first Welsh female in the UFC back in 2020, is feeling fresher than ever and ready to get back to winning ways after only the second defeat of her blossoming career.

McKenna, who trains with Team Alpha Male in Sacramento having pursued a professional MMA career since her mid-teens, earned a UFC deal via Dana White's Contender Series before beating Kay Hansen and being edged out by Elise Reed in March.

Speaking to Daily Star Sport before her clash against Miranda Granger, 30, on the undercard of Thiago Santos vs Jamahal Hill in a light-heavyweight clash at the UFC Apex this evening (August 6), McKenna is feeling the best she has ever felt.

She said: "A big thing for me in this fight is that I wanted to be healthy. This is the first fight where I've not had an injury going into it. That's a big thing for me. I've never had that.

"That was a priority for me, so when they through the UFC London date out I knew that it wasn't going to work, I had a couple of bumps and bruises.

"So they though out a couple of dates for me, but this one was about getting that win and getting back in there so I took the fight that suited me best."

McKenna fought five times under the Cage Warriors banner before being brought into UFC contention, fighting out of Cwmbran Wales.

Having recently been given the nickname Poppins by retired UFC icon Urijah Faber, another source of inspiration has come from Molly McCann, who has stolen the show at both UFC London events this year and recently climbed to #15 in the UFC women's flyweight rankings.
