JACKSONVILLE, Fla — A Gold Jacket fit for Jaguars legend, Tony Boselli. The Gold Jacket Dinner was a night filled with National Football League and Pro Football Hall of Fame Legends, including the first official step for the Class of 2022 to be introduced into football history.

Boselli and Jacksonville native LeRoy Butler got the historical piece of clothing at the Gold Jacket Dinner. During the Class of 2022 introduction walkouts, Butler was the first to be introduced, when Boselli came out the two hugged and Boselli waved towards his family. The moment shared is one that’ll last a lifetime.

Number 71 for the Jaguars dominated the line of scrimmage, piling up five Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro selections. Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry watched Boselli play and has known him for roughly 15 years. The mayor traveled to Canton, Ohio to support Boselli as he gets inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“Very few people in their profession get to be recognized as one of the best. What it is you do, very few get the opportunity and frankly very few are the best,” Mayor Curry said “Tony is one of those and thats why we’re here tonight.”

Mayor Curry said he’s known boselli for roughly 15 years, saying he’s a great person off the field. Mayor Curry believes Boselli becoming the first Jaguars player to ever be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame hopefully opens the door for more positive national media attention in Jacksonville.

“We have a chip on our shoulder because we have been critisized as a smaller market,” he said. “Tony being inducted into the Hall of Fame may change the national sports discussion around pro football about what Jacksonville is.”

The Enshrinement Ceremony is on Saturday, where Boselli and Butler will be forever part of football history.
